Evaluation
Overall, i am very pleased with my work and progress in this project. I feel that i contributed a lot to the group and also learned a lot from working on my own on editing and filming and other members of my groups advice. I think in this respect we worked very well as a team in helping and advising eachother which meant that we all improved on our filming, editing, sound recording and lighting skills. That is the pratical side but i think that we worked very well on the planning and research side too. What worked well in our group was that we all got along well so we were able to have informal thrilelr watching sessions at someones house and also have formal meetings in which we got paper work done.
I am pleased with this project because i wanted to learn new skills in editing and filming and to also have fun and make something i was proud of and i achieved all of these aims.

Narrative structure in Relapse
Todorov's narrative structure can easily be applied to our thriller in 3 parts:
-Equilibrium
-Equilibrium
Although this may not be the audiences equilibrium the main character is in equilibrium as he is on drugs. Restful and slower pace, just sitting on bench and walking around. Calm scene and setting with calm despite disturbed actor.
-Disturbance
The main character kills the female character, this acts as the disturbance in our sequence.
-Final equilibrium despite disturbance
Although in this equilibrium the female is dead and the male unconscious an equilibrium is formed. This is because in the first equilibrium she was not important and so her death does not matter. And also because the pace of the sequence has slowed down again like the start where he is stationary on the bench.
Binary opposites in Relapse
Binary opposites present in our thriller:
Male vs Female
Villain vs Victim
In control vs Out of control
Drugs vs Sobriety
Conscious vs Unconscious

Conscious vs Unconscious
Application of Barthes' theory to Relapse
Action codes:
- Why is the ciggarette dropped (state of mind)
- why does he get up and start walking
- why does he start following girl
- why did he take the drugs
Enigma codes:
- why is he in a park in the night?
- why is he shivering so much? (just the cold?)
- what effect will the drugs have on him
- why do we see him taking drugs, what is the significance?
- why is girl introduced
- why are there two of him
- why does he kill her
- are they both dead
- what will be the repercussions
